How do colours influence learning?
This is the question that thebaccalaureate students of Lluís de RequesensHigh School (Molins de Rei, Spain) are determined to answer. Our project will include neuroscience research in which scientists working in the field can collaborate.
Our project is supported by the Fondation de France within the framework of the programme “Nouveaux Commanditaires – Sciences” implemented by the Atelier des Jours à Venir.

What is our goal?
We are interested in the relationship between colours and learning, and how colours influence us when reading, writing or attending a class (listening and speaking). Our aim is to thoroughly research this relationship byconducting experiments and collaborating with scientific teams that have already worked on this subject.
Finally, we will write a scientific articlein order to keep the public informed of the results. This will alsogive us the chance to write our first scientific paper.

What is our method?

We will work as a team in order to share ideas and opinions. Working as a team has some very positive advantages, includingreaping the benefits of having many points of view,and ensuring a more thorough understanding of theinformation.
Our teacher, Mr. Daniel Laguna, is our “guide” here in the high school and he is always in contact with the scientists to keep us informed of progress and to maintain the relationship during the periods of time when we don’t see each other.
The team of scientists visit the school from time to time. These meetings usually last two or three days,during the course of which the scientists help us to putconcepts that we have already worked on in context. They also teach us how the scientific world worksso that we are able to write our paper appropriately. They guide us with our work and facilitate communication with other scientists and their work, so that we can use it as reference.
When the scientists are not there, we work on our own and meet frequently with our teacher Daniel to keep him updated, and to make sure that everyone knows their role in the project.
How do we feel?
We are really motivated about this project. We believe it is a very good opportunity to learn what research involves. We are also realizing how laborious it is to work as a scientist. Daily follow-ups, patience and perseverance are very important. We have also discovered that it is quite difficult to perform successful experiments and to draw valid conclusions.
Moreover, this project is helping us improve our English since it is the lingua franca of scientists all around the world.

Has provat de llegir un llibre amb les pàgines blaves? O fer matemàtiques en una taula vermella?

 

Com influencien els colors en l’aprenentatge?

Aquesta és la pregunta que ens hem proposat resoldre els estudiants de batxillerat de l’ Institut Lluís de Requesens (Molins de Rei). El nostre projecte consisteix en fer una recerca en neurociència en el que també col·laboren científics en actiu.

El projecte és recolzat per la Fondation de France en el programa “Nouveaux Commanditaires – Sciences” implementat per l’Atelier des Jours à Venir.

 

Què volem fer?

Ens interessa la relació entre els colors i l’aprenentatge com per exemple a l’hora de llegir, escriure o assistir a una classe, és a dir, escoltar i expressar-se. El nostre objectiu és fer una recerca completa mitjançant experiments i investigacions de científics que ja hagin fet recerques relacionades amb el tema.

Per finalitzar el procés volem escriure un article científic per donar visibilitat als nostres resultats, de manera que tothom pugui estar-ne informat. A la vegada també tindrem l’oportunitat d’escriure el nostre primer article científic.

 

Com ho volem fer?

Volem fer-ho treballant en equip de manera que podem compartir idees i opinions, cosa que implica que hi ha diferents punts de vista i una visió més completa de la informació.

Tenim un professor, Daniel Laguna, que ens guia des del centre i que sempre està comunicat amb els científics per tal d’informar-nos de les novetats i mantenir el contacte durant els períodes de temps que no els veiem.

Els científics ens fan visites de tant en tant. Acostumen a tenir una durada de dos a tres dies, en els quals ens ajuden a relacionar els conceptes que nosaltres hem estat elaborant prèviament. També ens ensenyen com funciona el món científic per tenir una idea de com ho hem de fer. Ens guien a l’hora de treballar i ens faciliten la comunicació amb altres científics i les recerques que han fet, per tenir alguna referència.

Quan ells no hi són, però, treballem pel nostre compte i esporàdicament fem reunions amb el Daniel per posar-nos al dia i assegurar-nos que tothom estigui al cas del treball que fa cadascú.

 

Com ens sentim?

Estem molt motivats en aquest projecte, creiem que és una molt bona oportunitat per aprendre el que comporta la investigació. Ens adonem com de laboriós és el treball d’un investigador, on és important el dia a dia, la constància i la paciència. També hem vist que és molt difícil fer bé els experiments i treure conclusions vàlides.

A més a més això ens està ajudant molt a millorar l’anglès a causa que és l’idioma comú entre els científics dels diferents països.
